No-Water Baeksuk

Everything steams together in the rice cooker using nothing but the chicken’s own juices, and it comes with a “crazy” dipping sauce spicy enough to wake anyone up in the morning.

Rice cooker 40 min · easy

Ingredients

  • Leftover rice
  • 600g chicken drumsticks
  • Cooking wine
  • Salt, pepper
  • Ginger, onion
  • A handful of garlic chives

Instructions

1Chicken drumsticks, rice, ginger, and onion in the rice cooker before cooking

Add the leftover rice, chicken drumsticks, cooking wine, salt, pepper, ginger, and onion to the rice cooker.

2Rice cooker display set to multicook mode for 40 minutes

Cook on Multi-Cook (or Steam) function for 40 minutes.

3Crazy dipping sauce made with chili flakes, garlic, soy sauce, and mustard

While it cooks, make the crazy sauce: mix Korean chili flakes, sugar, minced garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, and hot mustard.

4Garlic chives added on top of the cooked chicken and rice

Once done, add a handful of garlic chives and let it steam in the residual heat for 3 minutes.

Tip. Add about half a teaspoon of MSG (or chicken powder) to the sauce — it makes it taste incredibly delicious.
